Celebrating 30 years of Palms Health and Fitness Club
Whether you want to work out and keep on top of your fitness regime, try something fun and energetic, or just chill out and relax, it’s always up to you here at Palms. Palms Health and Fitness Club includes a range of state-of-the art gym machines, plus swimming pools and the ultimate place to unwind… a 10-seater luxury Whirlpool!
To celebrate 30 years of Palms, we caught up with Palms Health and Fitness Club manager, Ian Hawes, to find out more about Palms and how you can get involved with the 30 Year celebrations.
Can you tell us about what facilities and equipment guests can enjoy at Palms Health and Fitness Club?
We have two swimming pools, a luxury sauna cabin and steam room, a 10-seater Whirlpool, a cardiovascular and weights studio, including benches, free weights, bikes, rowers, and smart card machines to calculate your training history and see how many calories you’ve burned. Our bikes and cross-trainers even feature TV screens, so you can watch TV as you sweat it out! There’s also squash courts and badminton courts, so something for all interests.
How many classes do you run?
Over 30 classes a week, which are free for anyone staying at Potters and Palms Members. Classes include aqua, sculpt, bootybarre, Zumba, bootcamp, bounce, hoop and tone, strut and yoga. The instructors make each class fun and everyone is really friendly, so you feel comfortable and relaxed, and have fun while working out.
What are you looking forward to this Summer at Potters?
People are on holiday and in really good spirits, so it’s always a lovely atmosphere. It will be nice to welcome all the families back and see them all enjoying the outdoor pool area. We have a children’s pool too, so Palms is often the first place that families with little ones take them for the first time, so seeing the look on their faces as they enjoy the water and have a splash about is really special.
Are you having any special celebrations to mark your 30th anniversary?
We will be having a 30 day personal challenge that the team and the members at Palms can take part in to reach some of their goals in time for summer. There are three steps to this – choose a challenge, track your progress and use our support. As well as the 30 day challenge we will also be having competitions, giveaways, classes with 80’s music and coffee mornings for our members so lots going on!
You mentioned that you are planning a new class to mark the 30th year of Palms. Can you tell us about it?
We opened in 1988, so are celebrating the decade we started it all with a special 80s-themed class throughout the Summer. Enjoy this fun aerobics class and workout to an epic 80s soundtrack including Michael Jackson, every Thursday at 11am. We will also be running some of our classes on the timetable with a special 80s theme for our Members!
We hope you like the sound of our 30 year celebrations here at Palms, just ask us for more information and we look forward to seeing you soon!
