Swim or Relax at Palms

Choose to be as active or relaxed as you please

Palms has a range of facilities for you to enjoy. Swim in one of our heated swimming pools or choose to relax in our spa area including a ten seater whirlpool, sauna, steam room and vertical tanner.

Two Heated Indoor Swimming Pools

At Palms we have two indoor heated swimming pools as well as a baby pool with a mushroom fountain and bubble pad. Our tropical pool is 15m in length and the depth ranges from 1.09m - 1.6m. The indoor pool is 14m in length and goes from 0.73m – 1.3m in depth. Our pools are easily accessible with sloping steps, we also have a pool hoist available. We always have a lane for leisure swimming and a lane for lengths. There is also always at least one Lifeguard on duty at all times.

Outdoor Pool Area

One of the best things about Palms in the summer is the outdoor pool area! Relax and unwind in the sunshine by the pool and dip in when you feel like it…
Our outdoor pool is 1.6m in depth. The outdoor area opens around May/June time depending on the weather and closes around September/October.

Ten Seater Whirlpool

The whirlpool provides great immediate stress relief as the jets embedded in the sides of the whirlpool help to relax the body and mind. The high pressure massage that a whirlpool provides can also aid in sore muscle and joint relief. This can also help aid sleep if used in the evening before bedtime. There is no better way to relax after a long day at work. Please note: the whirlpool can only be used by people over 12 years old. Please refer to additional health and safety information displayed near the whirlpool.

Using a sauna can help to flush out toxins! As many of us do not actively sweat on a daily basis, using a sauna regularly can cause deep sweating which has multiple proven health benefits such as reducing levels of lead, copper, zinc, nickel, mercury and chemicals which are absorbed from interacting with our daily environments. It is beneficial to detox our bodies often. Please note: the sauna can only be used by people over 16 years old. Please refer to health and safety information displayed near the sauna.

Steam Room - with Eucalyptus

Steam rooms are perfect in the winter months for clearing congestion and helping to treat colds as the steam encourages deep breathing. They can also improve your cardiovascular health which can lead to a lowered blood pressure and healthier heart. Please note: the steam room can only be used by people over 16 years old. There is additional health and safety information displayed near the steam room.

Cold Bucket Shower and Cold Shower

The cold bucket shower is best to use straight after a sauna because the body is overheated so it gets the greatest benefit from thermal shock. It also helps to keep your skin pure and glowing. If you use a sauna before the cold bucket shower, this will detox the skin deep down due to the heat, eliminating impurities. The low temperature of the cold bucket shower then tightens the pores and ‘seals in’ the clean skin. Please note: the cold bucket shower can only be used by people over 18 years old. Please refer to additional health and safety information near the cold bucket shower.

Vertical Tanner

At Palms, we have a stand up sunbed that is located in the room behind the first lifeguard station. There is space for changing before and after use as well as air conditioning. Australian Gold tanning accelerators in sachet and bottle forms are available to buy from Palms Reception. Contact us for more information.

Swimming Lessons

Palms offers children’s swimming lessons, in our indoor pool, to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm-7pm during term time.

Our ASA Award Scheme lessons are run by Estelle and Sarah, both fully qualified and experienced swimming teachers. Each group lesson is 30 minutes long and there are a maximum of 8 children per group (ages 5+). Lessons cost £6.50 per lesson which is paid termly in advance. The cost includes any badges and certificates that the children earn. There is a one year wait list for beginner lessons so children’s names will need to be put down early. We also offer 1-1 lessons for both children and adults.
