Slow down, breathe… It’s time to think about you!
Everyday we come across energy that can greatly influence our mood and well-being. Sometimes we just aren’t in the mood for that upbeat class and would prefer a relaxed, steady pace. At Palms we offer Pilates, Yoga and Supple Strength weekly on our timetable at Palms and our members can’t get enough of them!
The modern world can be very demanding on us both mentally and physically and sometimes we just need to let go and take time for ourselves. This time is YOUR TIME. Our Yoga and Supple Strength classes start with setting our intentions, so that we begin the session with a clear mind, or with concentrating on our breathing and becoming more aware of it. This helps to focus the mind and calm the body. Sometimes this can be difficult, but don’t give up, because just like with other classes you simply need to give it a little time and it will start to become much easier.
As well as clearing the mind these classes are great for lots of other things and each have their own positive benefits. Our holistic classes will help you to improve your flexibility and increase your muscle strength, toning the whole body during each class. These classes offer a wide range of movements to suit any ability, therefore you never have to worry that you won’t be able to complete a pose.
An important component of Yoga is focusing on the present and research has shown regular Yoga practice with a qualified teacher improves your co-ordination, reaction time and memory. Yoga encourages you to slow down and relax, focusing on your breathing; this allows your blood pressure, blood flow and heart rate to slow, enabling you to reach that relaxation zone.
