If you want to treat a loved one this Valentine’s Day without the expenditure of a fancy meal or without going off track from your healthy New Year’s resolutions, why not try our easy, not so naughty treat?
Heart shaped pizza! With wholemeal dough of course (and as many veggies as you can fit on).
You can always buy pre-made wholemeal dough, however if you want to go the extra mile to impress and make your own then follow our really easy method below…
All you need:
- 250g of wholemeal flour (extra protein, extra fibre and a yummy flavour)
- 1tsp of instant yeast
- 1/4tsp of salt (you can even try smoked salt, giving the taste of an authentic brick oven pizza!)
- 1tbsp of oil (olive oil adds fats and with fats comes flavour but a healthier option, low in saturated fat and a high smoke point would be grapeseed oil)
If you have a mixer, add all of the ingredients plus 200ml of warm water and it will be ready in 5 minutes. If you are doing it by hand, bring it together in the bowl before using your work surface to knead it for around 10 minutes. Once it’s come together pop it back in the bowl and cover with a damp tea-towel. You can leave it to sit whilst you are prepping the topping.
After you have prepared the toppings you’d like on your Pizza and the dough has doubled in size, take the dough out of the bowl and knock the air out of it, then manipulate the dough into a heart shape before placing on an oiled tray. Add your toppings and then pop into a preheated oven for around 15 minutes. Take a look below for some tasty topping ideas that you can get creative with…
